Our commitment to you.
Counselling is very personal and at times uncomfortable. A good relationship with your counsellor is one where you feel safe, respected and heard.
We will work hard to be as supportive as possible and will work together with you to ensure we are a good fit.
We have a great commuinity of counsellors in our region so if you feel that someone else is better suited to your needs we will ensure the referral and transition is smooth and stress free.
Is my information confidential?
All records are stored under strict adherance to the Privacy Act with records stored in a locked filing cabinet in a locked office from the public.
Efoti Counselling Services operates with a strict confidentiality policy that is complicit with the NSW legislation that binds legal confidentiality.
Every client gets to read the policy and signs to say they understand the legal boundaries with which information is shared when and if necessary.
How long do sessions go for?
Generally we like to keep sessions to an hour.
We have flexibility when dealing with couples and families around the length of time but we have found that usually an hour works the best.
Sometimes we do extend if an issue is worth unpacking at the time and at other times when we are working with younger clients we are happy to shorten the session to best support the family.
Our workshops are planned on a two hour format to ensure learning is effective.
Can we do the sessions online or over the phone?
The short answer is yes.
We do like to do the first session face to face when and where possible and we prefer online over phone sessions but understand that life is full and we would rather people access support when they need it. Once again, lets chat about the best options that get you the support you need
How many sessions do we have?
The answer to this question is often on a person to person basis. We are very client centered in our care and so an issue can take as long as it takes to resolve.
We do try our best to get to the bottom of any presenting concerns as quickly as we can to ensure value for money with our service.
There is not a “one size fits all” kind of answer but we work closely with our clients to monitor progress and get feedback where possible to ensre we are staying on track.
Do I need to do anything to get ready for counselling?
Come ready to be honest
If you have some goals to set that would be great
Come ready to ask questions
It might to bring a water bottle.
What if I can’t make my session?
We do have a cancellation fee of 50% of your session cost if you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment, however there are always exceptions so it is best to contact us straight away to chat about what is happening.
